Andy Hutt - Drums
It was many, many years ago that an expectant mother took a visit to Whipsnade Zoo where she was scared by a stampede of mules. A few weeks later she gave birth to Andy. Some say that’s why he looks like a mule...
Andy took up the drums as a teenager influenced by the power drumming of Bonham and Baker, “If only I could get anywhere near their level of skill,” says Andy. Since then, Andy has played in a number of bands in pubs, clubs, and festivals – even on the QE2. “Perhaps my lowest point as a drummer was stepping in for a country and western band and being told to wear a shirt with a fringe.” Well we all have a skeleton or two in the cupboard.
With Dave, Andy forms the rhythm engine behind the band. A non-heads-down-drummer, Andy actually listens to the music and is well able to drive the beat along or relax behind the beat on more mellow numbers. At gigs, he drives a Yamaha kit with Sabian cymbals, at home a Yamaha electronic kit means that practice leaves family and neighbours undisturbed.
